Car UV's
#1 Submitted: Fri, 30/12/2016 - 13:41

I'm not to familiar with modding the back end of CMD so I'm a bit lost at getting my hands on UV maps for various vehicles. I used to make skins back in the UT days as well as making vehicle liveries for AC and fancy making some car skins for CMD,

if no one has any on file could someone aid me in making some from extracted mesh's? if i can get them into 3ds i can strip the UV's myself, actually come to think of it that wouldnt be too bad an idea as I could then kick the vehicle mesh into marmoset for easier skinning.

might also need a hand in getting the completed thing back into the game as well.

You can use Errols flummery to export the complete vehicles as .fbx format so you can load them in 3dsmax.

Get Flummery here : http://get.flummery.co.uk/

Alternatively I believe Trents Max Script tools can also load up the cars in 3Dsmax.

Trents tools you can get here: http://www.carmatools.com/Tools/MaxScript

I don't know how up to date these are(I don't use 3dsmax) so it may not work with the new vehicles added in CMD

Let me know if you need any more help.

I can confirm that Errol has already updated Flummery to open the new CMD MDL files, if the download link doesn't have the new updated version ask him for it on his flummery thread or via PM.

EDIT: On the brand names just 2 suggestions as a correction.

1 : Make sure you extract the car's zad file somewhere.

2 : File > Open > Carmageddon Reicnarnation Vehicle

3 : Select the car.cnt file (can't go wrong here, as there should only be one file there)

4 : Once its opened up go File > Export > Autodesk FBX file

5 : Load up the car in the 3D application of your choice.

If you want to skin the wheels you'll find those in a different zad

Ask errol for a newer version, it supports all the CMD cars.

This topic may help especially about making OBJ files, changing the file image formats etc.

http://www.carmageddon.com/forum/topic/28873

OBJ files I think dont lose the UV data from the original data.

Good Luck
