The Conservatives passed legislation where new customers have to opt-out of restrictions on sites with "objectionable adult content" under the pretence of protecting kids from porn. What is considered "objectionable adult content" is up to the ISP and unfortunately some ISPs are over zealous in declaring anything which isn't entirely kid friendly should be lumped in with porn. The first thing a one should do when they sign up to an ISP is opt out of the content block.
Oh, that bullshit actually passed? Youch. What exactly can be done now...? I mean, besides opting out.
I think it passed. I heard they made some changes to the legislation but I think it went through on the whole "think of the children!" front. After all, the people voting for it in government generally aren't tech savvy enough to realise the problems it would cause. Even if it didn't go through, ISPs used it as a go ahead that they're allowed to block sites by default. Bye bye net neutrality.
The ony thing to do is back net neutrality campaigns and charities and bring it up with your MP.
