is that shadows i'm seeing with that barrier handle-thing? Also, there doesnt seem to be any smoothing between polygons, i'm guessing that this a big issue to figure out with that particular filetype, eh?

I'm pretty sure that shadow is part of the texture. And yeah, smoothing and the rest of it is still on my todo list. Currently I'm calculating my own normals instead of using the mesh ones too.

Also, with regards to import/export, I'll aim at FBX although I've never used that myself.

FBX makes me nervous... I can export it in Blender, but i cant Import it back, even though there is a feature to do so built-in... Somehow Stainless's FBX file worked fine though, i must be doing something wrong, i HOPE.

Edit: This is the error i get.

Hmm, it seems blender only supports importing binary FBX files not ASCII FBX files, which is odd considering it seems to export ASCII FBX. You can use Autodesks FBX Converter to convert ASCII FBX files to binary ones (or even to OBJ files if you prefer?) http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=22694909

Oh wow, Trent, that is an Extremely good tool, woah! I can now convert my FBX files to a usable format for blender, and there doesnt seem to be any drawbacks either, the polygon smoothing is still there, and the materials too! Thank you very much!

I haven't read all the posts in this topic but I have checked out some of the mods. I love how quick off the mark you lot are :) I'm very new to modding but I have recently enjoyed modding Fallout 3. I'm super excited about Carmodgeddon & the ability to create my own powerups from scratch, using a tool! Epic.

I did attempt to replace my config script (if that is the right term?) with one I found through the C:R videos topic. The one which attempts to improve frame rate by minimising the graphics settings. It did not have the intended effect! The only noticeable difference is that now from the moment I run the game the screen permanently shakes about 1mm left to right. I think I will put it back to the way it was lol.

Hey Errol. Whats up, havent seen you in a while.

Now that I have seen a modding thread there goes about 5 more DVDs full of stuff and 5 years more of my life happily wasted :)

Why is it that when you are a child at the dinner table you can get punished asking for someone to please pass you the fork and knife ?

Crikey! It was barely a few hours.

Anyhoo, I've got basic CNT processing sorted, along with some fairly shoddy MTL and MT2 processing. I'm currently dealing with multi-material MDL files. While each MDL only contains a single mesh they can have multiple materials. I'll post some more images when I get something worth looking at.

I thought Stainless are providing official SDK, why you are making "our" own? I am asking because I thought one of the KS promises was official SDK.
