So, as promised, and with a little (extra) help from Trent (thanks again for that cleanly decompiled camera_setup.lol!) Edit; And thanks for the updated decoder! updated link in first post to point to your latest version.

Tweaked Camera's 1.0
These files will tweak the cameras, the main goal was to 'fix' the reverse camera untill stainless does so. Note that this does not alter the 'handbrake-turn-reverse-camera' trick, just the driving straight back camera.
Let me know if there are any issues (the file has 4 sets of camera settings, for me tweaking the topmost set worked, but may need to tweak the other sets for other resolutions, idk)

Also, for anybody wondering, inside camera_setup.lol:
*_plane_definition = { CAMERA-TO-CAR-ANGLE, DISTANCE, CAMERA-ANGLE }

Download: Here
Install:

  1. Open the above Tweaked_Cameras_v10.rar file
  2. Browse to *Steam*\SteamApps\common\Carmageddon_Reincarnation\ZAD
  3. Open scripts.zad with WinRAR
  4. Inside scripts.zad go to Data_Core\Content\Scripts
  5. Inside the Tweaked_Cameras_v10.rar open the directory of the camera setting that tickles your fancy (see examples below)
  6. Move the camera_setup.lol from said directory in Tweaked_Cameras_v10.rar to the scripts.zad\Data_Core\Content\Scripts file/directory (just drag drop, then click OK in the winrar popup)
  7. Enjoy your new reverse cam!
  8. Oh noes, not enjoying yourself? then move back the Default one (also found in Tweaked_Cameras_v10.rar)

Examples:

Tweaked Camera 1 - ZoomOut Reverse

Tweaked Camera 2 - Rotate Reverse

Tweaked Camera 3 - Rotate and ZoomOut Reverse

Cool! Just tested it, works fine with my resolution (1366x768). I'll stick with the Rotate Reverse one, being the most 'classic Carma'-like. Could be a bit more in front of the car so you can see the entire front, but it's is a great improvement over the standard setting. Thanks!

Does anyone know where the "pre-release options" are in the files? Would it be possible to have the timer disable activated by default?

Ok good to hear its working for others too :) And glad to hear you like it.
But i gotta admit, i honestly only checked how it looked with the twister hehe, ill test it with all cars tomorrow and tweak it a little to make sure all the cars are fully in view. (dont want the cam to far in front of the car either, then you cant have the pleasure of seeing yourself back into peds)

On a related note, i've been trying for the past 1,5 hour or so to get the cam inside the cab but sadly no luck there, while i did manage to get the cam to go inside the body on some occasions, eventually it dawned on me that the cam will simply not go into the car, unless its shifting between spaces (the two 'butter zones' for the forward and reverse positions)

I guess i could add a roof or possibly hood/bonnet cam to the 'pack' and mix that with the current reverse cam tweaks so everybody can get their preferred flavor of '* forward' and '* reverse' cam, expect a v1.1 tomorrow :P

Didn't look at the (files/code for) pre-release options yet, but im guessing you should be able to force them on the game. Personally, i've been thinking about a menu option that re-load the games files (since i did come across that code) to hopefully enable me to tweak files without constantly having to restart the game.
So i guess if nobody jumps on 'getting the most out of the menu' some time soon, i might take on that adventure aswell

Can you guys make a video with the rotate reverse camera mod?
I want to see if it's like it used to be in carma 1 and 2 because that is the only camera I could ever enjoy experiencing carmageddon with.
The lack of that camera would totally ruin carmageddon for me.

Im 99% positive the camera you want will be added by stainless, its already partially there.
Im 99.9% sure you wont like how this rotates (across the top) and may forget about this all being pre-alpha like you seem to in so many threads, including this one not to long ago.
Im 100% too lazy to make a video, (and really, it switches in half a sec) so no, sorry.

Also im sorry how rude that all sounds, im tired, g'nite <3

Aaah that would be great, been tinkering with some powerups and I would also prefer alt+tabbing out of the game to edit files. It always freezes up on me.

Admittedly it's not much to look at:

That's the two poly "Data_Core\Content\Vehicles\Countslash\driver.MDL" rendered sans texture in my model viewer.
Moving onto the slightly more complex "Data_Core\Content\Accessories\GR_Quarry_Sign_A\GR_Quarry_Sign_A.MDL" now.
